The cuttings are here! What should I do now?
1. Open the package & unpack cuttings correctly
Don't wait long after delivery
After delivery, the plants should not remain in the dark shipping box longer than necessary. Therefore, open the package as soon as possible after receipt.
Proceed as follows:
- Carefully cut open all adhesive strips with a knife
- Carefully open the box
- Remove the green shipping containers as well as any goodies and the delivery note
- Set the containers aside safely until your pots are prepared
Depending on the order, a shipping container can hold 3 or 6 cuttings.

Once your pots are ready, you can open the containers.
- Carefully pull on the sides of the blister
- The fasteners will release from the holder
- Inside, the cuttings are fixed with a wedge to ensure safe transport
Now your clones are ready for potting.

For clear traceability, each plant is marked:
- For mixed orders directly on the stem with a plant label
- For identical varieties, on the shipping container
2. Potting cuttings – The perfect start
Prepare a separate pot for each cutting with a suitable substrate (except for Living Soil Beds). Ideally, all pots should already be prepared.
Insert step by step
- Make a planting hole in the center of the substrate
- Add some mycorrhiza powder directly into the hole
- Carefully remove the cutting from the shipping wedge
- Remove the plant label
- Place the clone, including the wedge, into the planting hole
- Lightly press down the substrate
- Stick the label next to the plant in the medium
Important note
Do not place the label directly at the rim of the pot, as gaps may form when it dries out.

3. Watering correctly – A lot is decided now
In the first few days: Less is more
This is where most mistakes happen. Freshly planted cuttings initially need very little water.
Recommendation:
- Only water about 2–5% of the pot volume
- Then wait until the area is noticeably dry again
- This can take 1 to 3 days depending on the setup
Why too much water is problematic
Overly wet substrate displaces oxygen in the root area. This can cause the young roots in the wedge to rot instead of growing into the new medium.
The consequences:
- Stunted growth
- Yellow leaves
- Nutrient problems
- Stress reactions
Therefore, especially in the first few days: Better a little too dry than too wet.
4. Optimally adjust light & climate
Our cuttings are kept under low light intensity. Therefore, they should not be exposed to full power immediately after shipping.
Increase light slowly
- Dim the lamp or hang it higher
- Only gradually increase after visible growth
- New shoots = good sign of adaptation
Warning signs of light stress
- Drooping leaves
- Purple stems
- Slowed growth
Optimal conditions for rooting
For the first few days, we recommend:
- 25–27 °C temperature
- 60–65% humidity
After successful acclimation, the climate can be gradually adjusted.
5. Apply nutrients correctly
So that the plants do not have to live off their reserves, a light growth nutrient application is recommended even with the first watering.
Our cuttings are accustomed to an EC value of approx. 1.4.
Mineral or organic fertilization?
Mineral:
- Immediately available
- Quick adaptation
- Direct supply
Organic:
- Also possible
- Transition can take a few days
- Patience needed
Since organic systems work differently, microorganisms need some time to make nutrients plant-available.
6. Extra tips for quick recovery
Especially after transport, supportive products can be helpful:
- Foliar Sprays
- Kelp extracts
- Effective microorganisms
- Ferments
- Stress-reducing plant aids
These can help to reduce transport stress and accelerate rooting.
